San Diego police say two women were shot Sunday night during an attempted robbery in Little Italy San Diego police said.
The shooting was reported at 9:39 p.m. in the 1600 block of Kettner Boulevard, according to police Officer David Stafford.
A woman walked up to three other women displaying a handgun, Stafford said.
"The suspect demanded one of the victim's purses then fired one round at them. One 24-year-old victim was struck in the arm and the 33-year-old victim was struck in the abdomen," he said.
"The suspect fled without obtaining any property," Stafford said. "She fled in a late 90s Astro Van-type vehicle" driven by a man with a shaved head.
The woman suspect was described as Hispanic, in her late 20s, about 5-foot-4, 135 pounds with dark hair and wearing a dark furry jacket.    

Firefighters took the victims to a trauma center for treatment, Stafford said. They are expected to survive.
