SAN DIEGO - A body found in the trunk of a car has been positively identified as that of Gianni Belvedere, a young man who disappeared after his fiance and brother were shot to death in a mall parking lot.

The body was discovered Jan. 17 in the Riverside area after police got a call about a foul odor coming from the car's trunk area. The car was registered to 24-year-old Gianni Belvedere, but a positive identification was not made until this week.

The man's death has been ruled a homicide, adding to the mystery of what happened to the trio.

On Dec. 24, two people - Salvatore Belvedere and Ilona Flint, both 22, were found shot inside a car parked at the San Diego shopping mall. Flint died at the scene and Belvedere died several days later.

After the shooting, Salvatore Belvedere's brother, 24-year-old Gianni Belvedere, was missing (he was Flint's fiance). His disappearance raised questions about whether there had been some kind of violent end to a love triangle, but now the determination that Gianni Belvedere was killed changes the scope of the investigation.
