A woman somehow survived after her car careened off a freeway and down a more than 100-foot embankment overnight Tuesday in Fallbrook.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 15, south of State Route 76.

California Highway Patrol reports that the Cadillac was headed north on I-15 when it went lost control and veered off the roadway and down the embankment, landing in drainage ditch.

The driver was not hurt. Firefighters had to use a rope and pulley system to get the woman up the hillside in a litter basket, CHP said.

However, the woman was arrested for drunken driving. According to CHP, as she was being taken into custody she began to struggle with officers. It took several of them to subdue her.
