Residents evacuated from a Camp Pendleton housing area as a result of the fire that broke out on base Saturday were allowed to return Sunday evening. The wildfire that broke out on base about 12:45p continues burning, last estimate is 1000 plus acrest, only 15% containment as of Sunday 4pm.

According to information posted on The Camp Pendleton Scout Facebook page updated by base officials, the fire broke out in the area of Lake O'Neill.

Residents in the nearby housing were evacuated and a couple of base streets were closed to traffic. Some patients at the Naval Hospital on base were evacuated but operations are now reportedly back to normal.

There were no injuries reported but minor damage was done to four buildings according to offcials.
