A man fled the scene but was later caught after smashing a car into a mobile home in Spring Valley overnight Tuesday while a family of seven was asleep inside.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lamplighter Village mobile home park at 10767 Jamacha Blvd. The car hit the front side of the home, near the kitchen. A father, mother and five children were inside at the time, although no one was hurt.

"It was really loud, it sounded like fireworks next to your house, like in your house, and it made the whole house shake," said Elijah Magdaleno, a boy who lives in the home.

The driver left the car behind and ran. According to California Highway Patrol, the suspect was later captured at the mobile home park and arrested on drunken driving charges. His name was not immediately disclosed.
