An apparent drag race in Chollas View ended in a crash that sent two people to a hospital late Monday night.

 At about 11:15 p.m., a San Diego police officer spotted two cars racing eastbound in the 4900 block of University Avenue. The officer witnessed one of the cars, a Toyota Camry lose control while switching lanes. The Camry crashed into a parked car, pushing it about 50 feet, police said.

The driver was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital with head injuries. His condition was not confirmed. A pedestrian was also taken to a hospital with a laceration to his arm.

The other drag racer fled the scene, police said.
