Two robbers fled after a customer knocked away their gun during a robbery at a Shell gas station in El Cajon early Monday morning.

The attempted robbery occurred at about 1:45 a.m. at 601 N. 2nd St. According to the clerk, the two suspects demanded money while one of them whipped out a gun. Another customer who happened to be buying beer reached over, grabbed the gun and threw it to the ground.

The two suspects then fled. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras. San Diego police are still searching for the men. No one was hurt.

San Diego police said the weapon was a pellet gun.

The suspects, two black men in their 20s, fled east on Oakdale Avenue.
