Investigators are working to determine what caused a massive fire that destroyed a home in Imperial Beach Monday night that left one person with burn injuries.

The blaze was reported just after 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Fern Avenue. Witnesses told 10News they heard several explosions and then saw a man and woman crawling out a window screaming for help.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews arrived to find the home fully involved in flames. Officials said that some firefighters received electrical shocks from power lines because it was an older home that did not have an electric panel on the outside. The blaze was knocked down within about 20 minutes.

At least one person was taken UC San Diego Medical Center with burns. Their condition was not confirmed.

The two survivors allegedly told authorities they were cooking with oil when the fire started. However, the Metro Arson Strike Team was called in to investigate.
