Jerry Coleman, longtime announcer for the San Diego Padres, died Sunday. He was 89.

The Padres sent out a release saying, "We are deeply saddened to announce that Jerry Coleman passed away today. We mourn the loss of an American hero and a great man."

Coleman was the beloved announcer for the team for 33 years. 

The team also announced it would keep the Jerry Coleman statue at Petco Park open until 11:30p for fans who want to pay their respects to Coleman.
