Amazingly, no one on the ground was hurt. The pilot of a Marine jet based in Yuma Arizona safely ejected before the plane crashed into homes in the city of Imperial north of El Centro. But officials now say no one was home.
An eyewitness, Shaun Penniman, was out running with his dog when the aircraft went down and he talked to reporting partner 10News.
According to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the aircraft was a Third Marine Aircraft Wing AV-8B Harrier that was stationed out of Yuma. The plane went down around 4:20 p.m.
Miramar officials said the pilot ejected and landed safely, but the plane hit at least two homes in a fiery crash.
