Detectives are investigating a teen girl’s claim that she was kidnapped and raped Thursday in City Heights.

According to a San Diego police watch commander, the 14-year-old girl said she was walking in the City Heights area at about 3 p.m. Thursday when a man pulled up in a car and forced her inside. She told police she was taken to a City Heights park, where the man sexually assaulted her.

She said she somehow ended up at the intersection of Fairmont and University avenues at 2:15 a.m. Friday, where she flagged down officers.

She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

In a news release, San Diego police said they were working to corroborate the girl's statement.
