Lifeguards were working to recover an SUV that went into the San Diego Bay early Monday morning.

The vehicle plunged into the bay sometime before 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Anchorage Lane, near the San Diego Yacht Club.

According to San Diego Lifeguard services, the driver and lone occupant was able to get out before it sunk. It was unclear if the driver made it out before or after the vehicle went into the bay. Lifeguards searched the water to make sure that no one else was inside.

Divers were called in to recover the SUV.

The details of the incident were not confirmed.
