Dozens of rounds were fired from the home on Mt. Helix by the suspect who was identified on Facebook by family and friends as 46-year old Lionel Silva.

The incident began Monday morning shortly after 10 a.m. when deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a home in the 9900 block of Grandview Drive in unincorporated La Mesa.

Shortly after deputies responded to the home, shots were fired inside. Three other residents got out of the house safely, but the suspect remained inside.

Homes immediately surrounding the suspect's house were evacuated, and inhabitants of homes within a one-mile radius were warned by the Sheriff's Communication Center to remain indoors and close their windows, curtains and blinds.

The suspect was armed with a long rifle and could be heard shooting in different directions.

A woman told authorities that her fiancé was barricaded inside the home. She reported they had an argument and that the man, who had been drinking, threatened to hurt her and himself, according to a statement from the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's officials said the suspect had fired at the SWAT's armored vehicle. No one was injured.
