The two people died after two boats collided Thursday evening.  One of the victims was missing until Friday afternoon when lifeguards recovered the body of a 20-year-old man killed in the crash that also claimed the life of his 21-year-old companion.

San Diego Fire and Rescue spokesman Lee Swanson says the team anticipates continuing to dive through the afternoon to search for debris evidence.

The victims, whose names were withheld pending family notification, were aboard a drifting boat that was hit by a speed boat shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Both boats capsized.

"He was running at a high rate of speed hugging the shoreline tightly, and as soon as he got out of view from us, 'Boom!'" witness Todd Holverson said.

The two occupants of the other boat suffered minor cuts and bruises and were taken to a hospital.

El Capitan Reservoir was closed Friday due to the search.
