Tallahassee, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The State of Florida is facing a lawsuit over the school voucher program. The NAACP, Florida's teachers union and other groups have joined together to take the legal action.

The aim of the suit is to stop the program that allows more than 60 thousand students in Florida to attend private schools at public expense. Teachers union members contend the Florida Legislature is using the voucher program to pay for the education of children in unregulated private schools. The suit also charges that the money spent to pay for private schools takes money away from public schools.

This latest lawsuit follows one filed by the teachers union in July over the Florida Legislature's approval of an expansion of the tax credit.  That suit has yet to play out in a courtroom.
