(Cleveland) - A mowing accident at a creek in Old Brooklyn has taken the life of a 65-year-old Cleveland Department of Public Works employee.

Fire Spokesman Larry Gray tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 this happened at Archmere Park.

Gray says the worker was riding on the mower, when it tipped over on a steep embankment, trapping him under the mower in the creek.

Co-workers said he was missing for 5 to 10 minutes, before they found him in the creek. They lifted the mower off of the worker and called 911.

He was then taken to the hospital. The worker’s name has not yet been released at the request of his family.. 

An investigation is continuing but it's believe his mowner may have slipped on wet grass.

A statement released by the mayor's office reads, "This is an extremely tragic accident and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family, friends, and co-workers. The individual was a 65 year old male who worked as a Real Estate Maintenance Worker with the Cleveland Department of Public Works and had over 13 years of experience with the City of Cleveland."
