San Diego County Workers to Vote on Tentative Agreement

A planned two day strike by the largest labor union consisting of workers for San Diego County government has been cancelled after a tentative deal was reached on a new contract.

Negotiators for the county and Service Employees International Local 221 settled on a proposed agreement that would give employees raises amounting to about 13 percent over a period of five years.

The tentative agreement needs to be approved by County Supervisors and needs to be ratified by union members before it would become official.  Leaders of the union are presenting the details of the tentative agreement to the membership Tuesday through Thursday.
