So who are those guys playing at Petco Park?
Whoever they are they just swept the Atlanta Braves and before that they took two of out of three from the St. Louis Cardinals. And whoever they are, they’ve scored more runs since the All Star break than any other National League team.
And whoever they are, they can’t be the same guys that were playing at Petco Park the first half of the baseball season…can they?
The way they’re playing, the Padres certainly look like a different team in recent days. They did trade away their starting third baseman and best relief pitcher, but most of the players are still the same.
So what has San Diego’s baseball team playing so much better than they did before the All Star break?
Sometimes it takes something to motivate a team more. And maybe that something was what happened at the All Star Game. Remember?
Major League Baseball didn’t mention Tony Gwynn and ignored Mr. Padre. Since then, the Padres, have been on fire.
Could it be that the Padres have a special angel on the field, wearing the number 19?
