North Korea is behaving very badly. They have been "playing" the United States for years. China has done little to help!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 17, 2017
So many families in San Diego must be watching and listening to the latest news these days.
That’s because so many families in San Diego have fathers and mothers and sons and daughters who are in the active military. And most of us have friends or know someone who is in the military.
And when you’re serving in the military or a family member or friend of someone who is, you soon discover what it’s like with the difficult goodbyes and the emotional reunions that follow months and months of deployment overseas.
And you learn how to put aside your fears and worries and you pray and you accept this special calling to serve your country in this way.
And you also realize that serving your country in the military means defending your country.
With the ships of the Pacific Fleet here in San Diego and the Marine bases at Miramar and Camp Pendleton, thousands of Marines, sailors and other service members in San Diego have signed up to do just that, defend their country at any time.
And right now with the hot spots around the world from North Korea to the Middle East to the Ukraine, there are none more watchful than those who serve in the military and their families.
And if you’re among them, then you’re watching what happens in Washington and what all our leaders are saying and doing very closely.
And for the rest of us in San Diego, we need to be thankful for these brave and courageous young men and women who are always ready and willing to protect us. Because they’re the ones who really help make America great.
