One Man Dead In San Diego Deputy Involved Shooting

One man was killed on the Barona Indian Reservation after a pursuit off Wildcat Canyon Road after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

San Diego County Sheriff's officials say the man was driving recklessly,  and while heading to the scene, they received information the suspect may have tried to run over a Barona security officer.

Deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect fled, and there was a short pursuit.

Eventually, he stopped and got out of his vehicle but would not cooperate or follow deputies' commands.

The deputies tried to stop him from getting back into the vehicle and used bean bag rounds and a spike strip. But the suspect was able to get back in the vehicle and drive away again.

That's when two deputies fired their weapons.

The suspect continued driving and struck a Sheriff's vehicle and another car on the road. Two people in that car were injured and taken to the hospital, and their conditions aren't known. The suspect died at the scene.

The investigation is preliminary and more information will be released tomorrow.
