SWAT Standoff Leads To Murder-Suicide Near Mt. Soledad

A husband and wife are dead after what police say was a murder-suicide near Mount Soledad Tuesday night. It started around 7:30p.m. when police were called to 5579 Avenida Fiesta for a welfare check.

Homicide Lt. Todd Griffin says police found 60-year-old Parvaneh Jilavi dead on the couch.  That's when a SWAT team was called in, and around midnight, they went into the home and found Jilavi's 80-year-old husband John Mattiace dead upstairs.

Police say both reportedly died from gunshots.  It's not known yet who was the shooter or the circumstances surrounding the incident.  SDPD Homicide Unit is investigating.
