A 20 year old man was killed Tuesday morning after police said the car he was driving collided with a big rig truck that was illegally parked on a Chula Vista roadway. The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. along Eastlake Parkway, just past Otay Lakes Road. The identity of the 20-year-old victim was not immediately released.
There are reports the driver of the big rig was parked in a bike lane with truck partially in the traffic lane with signs posted not to park there. Reporting partner 10News learned the truck's driver entered a Jack in the Box restaurant nearby before the crash occurred. He refused to talk to reporters. Police were investigating to see if the driver of the car who died had been distracted because he did not appear to have braked before slamming into the rear of the truck.
