I worked in San Antonio twice -- once in the mid-90's and most recently from 2010-2014. I was a TV news reporter/anchor who traveled all around South Texas looking for stories to tell. I will admit, even though Sutherland Springs in about 20 miles east of San Antonio, I'd never heard of it until the mass shooting yesterday. I even called a friend of mine, who's also a reporter in San Antonio, who said the biggest thing that recently happened there was the opening of a Dollar General store. That's how small this town is.
But in this small Texas town has emerged a big hero named Johnnie Langendorff. He and another man chased the suspect, Devin Kelley, reaching speeds up to 100 miles an hour until Kelley crashed.
There's no telling how many lives these men may have saved.
