Fire Risk High As Santa Ana Winds Blow Through San Diego

The dry and gusty Santa Ana Winds starting to blow through Southern California are expected to create critical fire weather conditions in San Diego County.

A red flag warning is in effect through at least midnight Thursday.

Cal-Fire Captain Chris Sanchez says staffing has been increased locally. He also says Cal-Fire has agreements with the City of San Diego and other local agencies if mutual aid is needed.

Sanchez says citizens should be careful with outdoor flames to make sure a defensible space has been around their homes or businesses.
