Reward For San Diego Man Who Ran Down Barricades

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Western Division are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Matthew Haney who is wanted for a assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading.

On July 14, 2018, at 10:30 p.m., Matthew Haney was driving a black colored Honda Odyssey and struck several road barricades at the intersection of 6th Avenue and El Prado, in the Balboa Park area. 

After striking the barricades, Haney then drove directly towards a San Diego Special Event Traffic Controller.

The traffic controller had to run away from the vehicle and was within a few feet of Haney striking him. 

San Diego Police Officers attempted to stop Haney, but he led officers on a vehicle pursuit through San Diego, Lemon Grove, and he eventually stopped his vehicle in La Mesa. 

Haney ran from the vehicle and eluded officers. 

Matthew John Haney DOB: 7/4/1978. Haney  is described as a White male, 40-years-old, 6’0” tall, 160 lbs., blonde hair, and brown eyes. 

Anyone with information on the location of Matthew Haney is asked to call the SDPD’s Western Division at (619) 692-4834 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. 

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case.
