Threat Prompts Evacuation of Southwestern College in Chula Vista

Update: Chula Vista Police say the area is now safe and the police activity on campus has concluded.

Thursday morning the Chula Vista campus and centers of Southwestern College were evacuated as authorities investigate what school officials called, "a credible threat".

There is still no word on the nature of the threat made but Southwestern College Superintendent and President Dr. Kindred Murillo said the evacuation and cancellation of classes for the day were being done in an abundance of caution.

There were reports of traffic congestion as students made their way off campus.
