Tobacco Company Settles With Gwynn Family

Tony Gwynn Hall of Fame

The family of Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn has settled their wrongful death lawsuit with the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.

The lawsuit was filed in 2016, two years after the San Diego Padres legend died of salivary gland cancer at the age of 54.

Gwynn's family said he started using smokeless tobacco at San Diego State in 1977, 10 years before health warnings were issued or printed on labels of tobacco products.
