Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh choked up as he testified about sexual assault allegations in a Senate hearing that earlier featured his accuser Christine Blasey Ford.
Kavanaugh had to pause and compose himself as he talked about his daughter, who asked him last night to pray for Ford.
The nominee said his family and his name have been "totally destroyed" by a number of unfounded allegations in the past ten days. He said the Senate's role of advise-and-consent has become "search and destroy."
Earlier in the day Dr. Ford testified she is "100 percent" certain that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in the 1980's. In an emotional appearance she said she was afraid she was going to be raped or killed when Kavanaugh forced himself on her. She testified that Kavanaugh covered her mouth with his hand to keep her from yelling.
