Encouraging News For Alzheimer's Patients and Caregivers In San Diego

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors announced a pilot project for the Alzheimer's Response Team has been successful in Lakeside and Santee, where there are the highest number of people at risk.

Supervisor Dianne Jacob tells KOGO news if the patient is abusive, they ca end up in an emergency room or jail, where they don't belong. Instead, if a caregiver is having problems and calls 9-1-1 and mentions a dementia patitent, a special caregiver team with a social worker and first responders will answer the call.
