A San Diego Specialty Lab Helps Determine Drug Use Around The Country

The Centers for Disease control and Prevention's latest report shows deaths from the drug fentanyl has skyrocketed more than a thousand percent from 2011 to 2016.

The report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also analyzed who had been hardest hit by the fentanyl epidemic.

A specialty laboratory in San Diego is on the front lines when it comes to distributing research on who's using drugs and which drugs they're using.

Angela Huskey is with Millennium Health, a company providing medication monitoring and drug testing services. Their data helps providers make decisions about patient care and prescription medicines. Huskey says there are differences on the West Coast and East Coast when it comes to fentanyl and heroin.
