Gas Prices Skyrocketing in San Diego County

Gas prices in San Diego County are on the rise and could soon be over $4.00 a gallon.

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in San Diego County rose again Monday by another two cents to at least $3.83 cents. That is the highest amount since October 25, 2018.

The average price went up four cents on Sunday and has now risen 21 consecutive days and 27 of the past 28 days.

The average gas price in the county is now 21 cents more than one week ago and almost 52 cents higher than one month ago and about 28 cents more than one year ago. The recent sharp increases are the result of a series of refinery issues that have reduced supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. "Refineries in wilmington and carson reported unplanned flaring as a result of breakdowns last weekend, according to oil price information service,'' Spring said.
