With Father’s Day on Sunday, here are some facts about fatherhood from the U.S Census Bureau this week.
The Census Report says there are 74.4 million men in the U.S are fathers.29.2 million fathers are also grandfathers. 61 percent of men become fathers for the first time between the ages of 20 and 29.
Of the men who live with their biological or adopted children, approximately 75% eat dinner with their children 5-7 days a week,
About 40% of men in all family types take young children on outings at least three times a week.
And about 25 percent of children under 18 do not have a dad living at home.
And then there is this, a survey of new dads who were asked what they’ve learned about fatherhood.Their answers include:
"The biggest thing that I've learned is how to really manage my time with work.”
Another dad saying, “That time really matters compared to money and prized possessions.”
And another new dad saying:“I’m learning how to be “a better man and a better person because I have this little person watching me…and he’s teaching me how to be a better husband.”
Some things to think about if you’re a dad this Father’s Day.
