WATCH: What the Grown-Ups at You Tube Need to do to Protect Kids

Every parent talks about it and every parent tries to do something about it.

That’s protecting their kids from the dangers on line. And there is plenty out there to protect them from.

With You Tube now said to be considering making some changes to protect kids, they’re being pressured to not just consider it, but to do it.

The problem is that while a lot of kids watch kids videos on You Tube, the auto-play feature with the next video automatically playing can expose kids to inappropriate, offensive and dangerous content.

According to the Wall Street Journal, You Tube is now considering disabling the auto-play feature on kids content and maybe moving all content for kids to a separate app, called You Tube Kids.Good ideas.

You Tube already is reported to have restricted live features involving kids and not allowing comments on kids videos.Good ideas as well.

Today’s kids who are growing up in an interconnected and sometimes dangerous digital world, need grown-ups to protect them. That includes parents who need to limit their screen time and monitor what they watch.

And that includes the adults who run You Tube and the other social media platforms. They have great power and yes, that means great responsibility.
