DMV Closes For Half-Day To Prepare For Real ID Transactions

The DMV will be closing down all locations next month for a half-day of training. All 183 DMV locations will be closed until 1:00p.m. on July 24th to focus on the Real ID program, and overall customer service.

The state is calling it "Operation Excellence," looking to prepare the 5,000 DMV employees for the Real ID transactions set to increase over the next year. Drivers will still be able to use the online system for most issues that day, but the Real ID requires an in-person visit ahead of the October 1, 2020 deadline.

Beginning on October 1, 2020, you will need a Real ID, a passport or a passport card to fly domestically and to enter secure federal facilities, including military bases.
