Why Padre Fans May Be Jealous of Dodger Fans Despite Loss

There’s a saying in sports about being able to finish. You can be good but unless you can finish with a win, it doesn’t matter.

The L-A Dodgers may now be a team that many of their fans will say doesn’t know how to finish.

The Dodger’s loss to the Washington Nationals this week to end their hopes of making it to the World Series only increased the view that the Dodgers don’t know now to finish.

As the Wall Street Journal pointed out after their latest case of blowing it in the post-season, the “Dodgers spent roughly $1.7 billion in payroll over the past seven years in pursuit of a World Series title, an unprecedented level of financial commitment for one of baseball’s marquee teams. Their commitment to winning has resulted in more regular-season victories than any of their competitors, and MLB-leading attendance figures, seven division titles and two National League Championships”.

Yet, despite all that, you know the last time a Dodger team won the World Series? It was back in 1988, more than three decades ago.

Here in San Diego, when it comes to the L-A Dodgers, there are no condolences from baseball fans here.Like the Yankees in the American League, other teams’ fans love to hate the Dodgers.

But then of course at the same time, Padre fans probably wish they had the same problem a winning team like the Dodgers have, despite them not finishing, again this year.
