Forward Rate of Speed Stopped on Brush Fire in East Ramona

Crews have stopped the forward rate of speed on a brush fire that started Friday morning that prompted evacuations in East Ramona.

The fire, dubbed the Sawday Fire, started after 9 a.m. in the area of Sawday Truck Trail and has burned an estimated 100 acres so far with 15 percent containment.

Deputies from the San Diego Sheriff's Department went going door-to-door west of Littlepage Road and south of Old Julian Highway evacuating residents who were directed to an evacuation point at the Ramona Rodeo Grounds.

The fire resulted in a couple of earlier road closures, Littlepage Rd. at Old Julian Highway and Eastbound Highway 78 from 3rd street in Ramon to Old Julian Highway. Traffic is still not completely back to normal in the area.
