San Diego Mayor Announces Some City Parks Are Re-Opening

Some city parks in the city of San Diego are opening to the public.

Mayor Kevin Faulconer Monday said some city parks were going to reopen starting Tuesday. Faulconer said parks will reopen as long as people practice social distancing.

A list of parks that will resume operation would be made available Tuesday on the city's website.

According to the mayor, beaches and bays will remain closed until the county says otherwise. Faulconer strongly urged those going to parks to wear face masks. Playgrounds will remain closed and amid the COVID-19 outbreak and sports are prohibited in parks.

He added that the city may have to "dial things back" if people do not obey social distancing requirements. Faulconer said beaches could be open by May 1st.
