The Openings We've Been Waiting For in San Diego

It’s a big day Friday for more business re-openings in the county.

With gyms and fitness centers, movie theaters, bowling alleys and arcades and other businesses able to open starting tomorrow, things are rapidly changing.

And it comes at a good time what with kids pretty much having been stuck at home for almost three months, and now the hot weather this week. And some of the places we love to go to during the summer with our families are opening soon.

The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park open the day before Father’s Day, Balboa Park museums are opening their doors again and Disneyland and California Adventure announced this week that they will be opening on July 17th, the date of Disneyland’s 65th anniversary of its first opening in 1955.

San Diego’s historic Old Town is in a fiesta mood with restaurants opening and Diane Powers’ famous Bazaar Del Mundo back in business. And the Midway Museum opens July 1st.

And with San Diego Magazine now resuming operations, after shutting down the 72-year-old publication three months ago, their next issue will be able to tell some of the stories of the long and unusual shutdown of 2020.

While a lot of places are opening, they will look and feel a little different for a while with physical distancing and face masks still required. But after three long months, even a new normal is a lot better than the abnormal.
