What Kids Will Learn in School When They Get to School

We’ve just reached the start of the 17th week since the statewide stay at home order in California.

It was back on Thursday March 19th that Governor Newsom became the first governor in the nation to issue the order that told everyone not to leave their home and not go out in public unless you really had to.

That led immediately to the shutdown of stores and schools and the loss of a record number of jobs as employers who were forced to shut down laid off or furloughed employees.

Many others were forced to work from home while workers at essential businesses like grocery stores showed up at work every day as face masks soon became the fashion statement of 2020.

Now after all these many weeks and almost 4 long months, and after the curve was flattened the economy started opening up, the cases and hospitalizations are going up again, and restaurants and other businesses are closed or partially closed again,

And now here we are, when parents usually begin shopping for back to school clothes and other items needed for the classroom, we don’t even know when exactly classrooms will be filled.

Or how filled they will be or how many days kids will even go to the classroom or what going to the classroom will even be like for kids, what with face coverings and social distancing and lots of hand sanitizer in their backpacks.

One thing’s for sure, this year will be a year that kids many years from now, will read about in their history classroom.
