San Diego County Will Get New Update Tuesday on State's COVID Tier Status

San Diego County remains in the Red tier for COVID-19 openings with the weekly update set to be released on Tuesday.

The county has been in the Red tier, the second most restrictive of the four tiers, since the state began its color-coded monitoring system in August. It ranges from Purple, the most restrictive tier, to Yellow, the least restrictive. The next least restrictive below Red is Orange, which would allow the county ease more restrictions on businesses, schools and places of worship.

County public health officials on Sunday (Oct 4) reported 236 new coronavirus cases and five additional deaths raising the county's totals to 48,436 cases and 803 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began.. .
