The Navy says nine sailors suffered minor injuries in a fire Tuesday aboard the San Diego based aircraft carrier the USS Abraham Lincoln.
A Navy spokesman says the fire was extinguished by the crew. All the injured sailors were being treated on board the vessel. According to Navy officials, the Abraham Lincoln was conducting routine operations about 30 miles off the coast of Southern California when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is under investigation. The Navy says the ship will continue to operate in the area.
