The San Diego Police Department has confirmed that 3 people have died and 6 are being hospitalized for injuries sustained when a vehicle swerved from the road and up onto the sidewalk mowing down pedestrians on the 1400 block of B Street.
SDPD reports that the vehicle was driven by a 71-year-old man who has been detained on suspicion of DUI after hitting the incident took place in a tunnel under the San Diego City College bridge on B Street between Park Boulevard and 16th Street.
The incident took place just after 9am Monday and will be investigated throughout the day today. Police are asking that people avoid the area.
