Joe Musgrove Signs 5-Year Extension with San Diego Padres

San Diego native Joe Musgrove, will continue to play for the Padres through the 2027 season thanks to a 5-year contract extension.

Team manager A.J. Preller stated in today's announcement, “Joe has consistently performed at a high level over the last two seasons, throwing the first no-hitter in Padres history and becoming an All-Star. He personifies a championship-level mindset and elevates the teammates around him. We’re extremely happy to have Joe as part of our core group moving forward as we work to bring a World Series title to San Diego.”

Musgrove, who was born and raised in El Cajon, began playing baseball at the age of 7. As a teen, he helped his high school team at Grossmont High School to two state championships. He was a first round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011 MLB Amateur Draft and played for the Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates, before signing with the San Diego Padres in 2021.
