Where to Find Cheaper Gas

With average gas prices in San Diego now nearing 4-dollars a gallon, you might be wondering what the price of gas is like in other areas of the country.

In a survey of gas prices around the nation, the USA Today finds that gas prices are going up everywhere, but there are big differences in how much and how fast.

Not surprisingly, the survey shows gas prices in California have gone up the most in the last week, by close to 20 cents or so.Arizona and Alaska are next with the biggest increases in the last week.

According to the survey, the Rockies, the Great lakes and Central regions are also seeing sizable spikes in gas prices while there have been only moderate increases east of the Mississippi River.

At the start of the week, the average price nationwide stood at 2-and-74 cents and even that was 28 cents higher than one month ago.

If you want to go where the cheapest gas prices are found, the USA Today survey says you’d have to drive to the Deep South.Prices in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi were reported at only 2-dollars and 45 cents a gallon this week.

It’s been a long time since we paid less than 2-and-a-half bucks for a gallon of gas in California and with the way things are going, let’s just hope that 4-dollars a gallon doesn’t like a bargain in the not so distant future.
