How Bad is the Homeless Problem in California?

How bad is the problem of homelessness in California?

Pretty bad if you pay attention to what’s being reported in the news lately.

In last the last few days, there was Governor Newsom, with the state having the highest cost for housing, talking about and urging local officials to take big steps to help solve the problem of homelessness.

And then a report in the San Diego Union Tribune quoting an independent expert appointed by the United Nations, on a visit to San Diego to look at the problem of homelessness saying “It’s as bad, if not worse, than I anticipated.”

And there was a writer for the L-A Times this week who wrote that everywhere they go, people ask why there are so many people who are homeless living in Southern California.

Yes we do have a big problem in our city, our region and our state when it comes to the problem of homelessness.

There are some small victories here and there in the fight to solve the homeless problem, with even the U-N inspector saying she was encouraged by what elected officials in San Diego said they’re trying to do about it.

But the problem of what to do to really solve the problem is as at least as elusive as finding a safe place to sleep at night, if you’re homeless.
