What Ban on E-Scooters at San Diego State Means

Is the just announced ban on electric scooters at San Diego State a sign of things to come? Will it be a trend?

While students can use them to get to and from campus, the SDSU is banning the use of pretty much all electric and motorized versions of scooters, skateboards, bikes, roller skates and hover boards on the campus.

SDSU is not the first school to do it.Reports say San Jose State University already has a ban.And don’t be surprised to see other universities do it as well.

San Diego State’s director of parking and transportation told the Union Tribune, “The new policy was enacted to ensure the safety of our campus community was a top priority.”

We’ve all seen or heard all the reports about all the accidents involving scooters in San Diego since the scooter invasion began.

And the debate about what to do about them has speeded up here in San Diego and in other big cities all across the country.

In fact the squabble over scooters is already a major issue in the race for Mayor in San Diego with the City Council having approved new rules but there are questions about how well those rules are being followed and what it means for public safety.

But with the scooters having become so popular, it’s not going to be easy to put the brakes on them.
