Interview: Singer-Songwriter Sarah McLachlan in San Diego

What's it like to be a big celebrity? What's it like to be Sarah McLachlan?

She is one of the most popular singers and songwriters in the world and I had a chance to talk to her recently on her birthday as she was preparing to come to San Diego for a performance at the Civic Theater on February 18th.

The Canadian singer-songwriter recorded her first album in 1987 and has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. Sarah has won two grammy awards and has been nominated two other times. She also is well known as the founder of of "The Lilith Fair" tour which showcases female musicians.

I talked to her not long after the tragic death of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, about what it's like to be a celebrity and the attention it brings to your personal life.
