Christmas 2020 is here. And who would have imagined a year ago that this Christmas would be so different with a pandemic raging on and after more than 9 months of shutdowns.
There are many who had a job a year ago but are now without one. And there are many who have become infected and of course there are many, and more than 300,00 who were alive a year ago and are not here for this Christmas.
And there are many who a year ago were getting together with family from out of town and nearby who are not getting together this Christmas.
All that has happened would never had been expected and after nearly a year of this pandemic, what is happening now is not the way we had wanted it to be by now. And we wonder when it will end.
Maybe it’s a good time to remember that Christmas began in a very unexpected way. There were shepherds who never expected to see what they saw. There was a young couple who never expected that they would see their special baby born in a dirty carved out stable.
And we wonder what that would have been like. What would it been like to be there at that first Christmas?
That’s what a special program is all about that we will bring you this evening called The Bethlehem Report. It has become a San Diego radio tradition as members of the KOGO News team tell the story of the events of that first Christmas as if it were happening today.
Despite the pandemic’s impact on how we may celebrate Christmas this year, we can celebrate what Christmas means and the wonders of the unexpected events that happened 2,000 years ago.
You can hear the Bethlehem Report this evening at 5 o’clock here on KOGO or online at kogo.com.
And all of us hope you celebrate the wonder of Christmas.
