How Girl Scouts Are Getting Us Cookies Despite the Pandemic

The COVID virus has taken away many things we’re used to in normal times, far too many to even begin to list.

And one of those things we’re used to seeing this time of year are the Girl Scouts knocking on doors and setting up displays in front of grocery stores selling Girl Scout cookies. The pandemic, like so many things, has meant doing things differently the girls here in early 2021, and going virtual and going online, and on Zoom and on Facebook and using Door Dash and Grub Hub to get their cookies to their supporters.

And that support means a lot for the Girl Scouts. About 20-thousand of them in San Diego and Imperial Counties who according to a report in the San Diego Union Tribune, sold almost 3-million boxes of cookies last year with the 15-million dollars raised helping the Girl Scouts do the things they do…from camp events, community outreach, to STEM education and lots more.

But the changes and the challenges this year are teaching Girl Scouts some things about how to adapt and survive and how to adjust and thrive. Some of the same kind of things most of us are learning going through this now year-long pandemic.

Thankfully we don’t have to go through it without thin mints and peanut butter patties!
