Play ball. With the Let Them Play campaign ending in a settlement with the state, high schools in California will be able to start up sports again.
It comes after nearly a full year now since schools were shut down at the start of the pandemic, along with the plan to re-open many more schools by the end of the month.
And now Governor Newsom is saying the state will be coming out with a plan shortly that will allow at least a limited number of fans to be safely back in the ballpark, and that means the major league ballpark in San Diego, Petco Park, possibly in time for Opening Day on April 1st. And the state has made a slight adjustment in the color-coded COVID tiers that will make it easier now for counties, like San Diego, to move out of the most restrictive Purple tier into the Red one.
Ad while there are still not enough vaccine supplies and it is still hard to get an appointment, the third approved vaccine will soon start to arrive and by the end of May, the President says there should be enough vaccine for everyone in the country who wants to be vaccinated.
All of this is some of the good news about where we are in this pandemic.
We’re not out of it yet, and the normal we want is still probably several months away. But each day and each week that goes by brings us closer.
So along with continuing to mask up, staying distanced and washing our hands, we should all help each other to stay encouraged.
